Your Trusted Freelance Partner for Library Marketing & Programming

Experienced Freelance Library Marketing & Programming Specialist Based in Heber City, Utah, I am Alice DeFriez and I bring 14 years of dedicated experience from my time at the Wasatch County Library. As a passionate member of the Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) since May 2018, I deeply care about supporting libraries in small and rural communities. I’ve attended the ARSL conference every year since joining, except in 2020 (due to the COVID-19 lockdown) and in 2024 (due to budget restrictions). Additionally, I’ve participated in the Library Marketing Conference (LMCC) for the past three years, enhancing my expertise in this field.

Throughout my career, I’ve developed a wealth of experience in:

  • Children’s programming

  • Event planning and summer reading initiatives

  • Contests and promotional campaigns

    • Graphic design, marketing, and social media management (honed over 13 years, officially since October 2017)

I understand the unique challenges small and rural libraries face and am committed to empowering these communities with tailored, contract-based services. Whether it’s creating captivating flyers and signage or designing impactful social media campaigns, I can help elevate your library's presence, even on a modest budget.

Let’s work together to connect with your community in meaningful ways and tell your library’s story. I’m flexible, dependable, and ready to align with your goals.

  • Provide friendly and constructive feedback

  • Foster a collaborative and enjoyable working relationship

As a 1099 tax employee, I am committed to delivering exceptional results tailored to your library’s unique needs.

Location & Travel: This is a remote position based in Heber City, Utah, enabling me to work with libraries across the country. I am available for travel if costs such as lodging, airfare, and car rental are covered by the library.

  • I desgined the graphic "Movie Night" and the marquee lights for my library

  •  I created the Lego Wasatch Tabernacle and did the design for the lego contest poster. I started this contest in 2013 and our last one was in August 2023

  • I drew this little Irish dancer and designed the background. (The logo on the right belond to Wasatch Back Irish Dance and I did not creat that)

I’m thrilled to be part of a collaborative project with my fellow Heber City residents, shining a spotlight on the last 100 years of our town’s rich history. While Heber City was officially established in 1889, we’ve chosen to focus on this most recent century—a period filled with incredible stories and milestones. As part of this effort, I’ve created an illustration that captures the essence of Heber’s journey through time. Every element in the picture was hand-drawn by me, with one small exception: the skiers. While I could have drawn them myself, I decided to save time by sourcing them from Pixabay.com so I could concentrate on bringing the rest of the artwork to life.

I entered this design for Utah Bike Month

move. utah.gov and though I didn't win I am proud of what I designed!
